Just as there are more than two planets, there are more than two ways to train a dog. There are individual methods, classes, schools, associations and clubs to name a few. To begin with, there are individual methods. These are methods where the person who is training the dog is the one doing the training, not anyone else. For instance, you are the one who is training your dog to sit. When you put the leash on him and tell him to sit, he will then feel the pull on the leash and then sit. On the other hand, if you call him and tell him to sit, he will sit on his own.
Some techniques have been used to train dogs that are considered so effective that they are accepted by the canine world as legitimate methods. These techniques have proven to be very effective in getting a dog to do almost anything a person requests. In fact, you are the one who will be taking the initiative to train your dog, but he will learn it almost immediately. This happens when you are training a dog the individual methods. You may feel a tug on the leash, but he will automatically sit when you give him a command. This training method works because the dog has no other option. You will be the one who is giving him the commands.
Once the dog has learned the individual methods, the two of you can then begin with the individual training sessions. You can begin this as soon as you take him to a park or a beach, where you can do the individual training. He will be ready and willing to learn if you teach him the individual methods. This will also be different for each dog.
However, the basic assumption of this training is the same. You will train him and he will learn it quickly and effortlessly. You may also call him to do individual training if you want to. That will be the time when he will sit when you tell him to. This method may be done in the park, or even in your backyard. Once your dog has learned to sit on his own, you may then begin individual training.
You may then reward him with treats when he performs the command that you ask of him. Dogs, of course, want to please their masters. If you give them a treat when they obey, they will find the individual training method to be very appealing and pleasurable.
One thing that you should keep in mind in individual training is to keep the sessions short. You may ask him to repeat the command when he finishes the work, but not for more than ten seconds. Remember that the dog will quickly forget the method if it is long and is not very engaging. When you repeat a command with a reward for him, he will soon come back to you with the object of trying to please you and to get the reward.
You should not go on for more than ten seconds, otherwise, he may come back and find the individual training sessions to be too long. If you do, you will have to re-do the individual training for him each time you repeat the command. That can be very tiresome and time-consuming, as well as boring for your dog.
However, if you use a clicker, you will only have to click when the dog does something that he is told to do. That will be very easy to learn, as all dogs are very eager to please their masters. That method will also be very useful if you want to train your dog in obedience. It is a good way to keep your dog’s attention. When you click the clicker, you should give him a treat. The clicker may be used even if you are just talking to your dog.
The key is to click only when the dog is doing something that you want him to do. For example, if you want him to sit, you should click only when he is actually doing so. As you practice, you will get better at predicting the behavior. You can always hold your dog’s attention with treats, and then click only when he is doing the behavior that you want him to do.
It can take some time to get good at all of these things. Don’t get discouraged if you do not get it right on the first try. There is no time limit, and the point is to train your dog to do the job you ask him to do. Keep working at it, until he is able to do it without a command. If you keep practicing, over a period of time your dog should be able to do whatever you ask him to do. That is a huge benefit to having a good dog trainer.
