Feeding Your Dog Differently

Feeding Your Dog Differently

Judesco June 2, 2021
One of the primary solutions to owning a healthy dog is what and how much he consumes. The next three articles will deal with the same topic.
The first article will examine the nutritional requirement of the average dog. We have been told in the past that one serving of dog food provides the nutrients needed for an adult dog for 40 pounds. We are told to be aware that a large dog requires more protein and fats to sustain him.

On average, we know that dogs have a lifespan of about 12 years. The first article will see whether 40 pounds of weight means an average dog lives longer than 12 years.

We will make the average dog between 50 and 70 pounds.

The second article will assess the nutritional value of one serving of dog food per day. We have been told that the body of a dog contains 20,000 calories. The average dog weighs about 10 to 30 pounds. These 20,000 calories per day would only last a dog a month. We shall see what happens to the dog’s food if the weight is 30 to 70 pounds.

These 30 to 70 pounds contain 20,000 calories; which would last a dog a month.

The third article will examine the nutritional value of one serving of dog food per week. We have been told that a dog would need 3 to 6 months’ worth of food. So if the 50 to 70 pounds has 3,000 calories per week, which can be obtained from 3 to 6 months, the 30 to 70 pounds must have 20,000 calories per week, which is more than 6 months worth. These 20,000 calories per week for the 50 to 70 pounds is about 6 months’ worth of food for the 30 to 70 pounds. This is a very good value for the animals. Therefore, 30 to 70 pounds of weight is good.

I hope this article is beneficial to pet owners. Please remember that the breed and the sex determine the nutritional value of dog food. This can be derived from food data sheets, manufacturer’s information or any other reputable source. The nutritional values will only be applicable if the food is of good quality. You have been advised to consult your veterinarian before the change.
