Dog bites can be a serious matter. When a dog bites, there is usually a reason. Most people believe it’s only because they’re aggressive and just trying to get back at their victim. But, it can also be because a dog has been teased or was abandoned and feel it’s only right to assert his dominance.
Dogs can also be curious, scared and can’t decide if they should run away or be with the pack. Many times, the dog’s owner may be to blame for the biting situation as well. How do you solve the biting problem? Well, first, try petting the dog gently. As you pet, try and play with him.
Let him know your love and care for him. Let him know he can do whatever he wants as long as he’s safe. Give him love and kisses and petting from time to time is all anybody really needs to help him settle down and stop biting. In time, he should stop biting.
However, some dogs that bite can be difficult and frustrating. The best thing you can do in this case is to avoid the situation altogether. You will have to train the dog to stop biting on your clothing. This may seem like a daunting task, but it takes just a little bit of effort and patience.
Get a dog collar and train him to wear it. This way, he’ll associate his collar with a positive purpose. Put a leash on him, so he’ll have a sense of how he should walk on different types of terrain.
Make it clear to him that your affection is his only source of food and love. You will show affection to him and give him treats when he behaves appropriately. Give him rewards when he follows your commands. Do not give him treats when he bites you. If the dog bites you, take away his collar and lead him into a pen on his own, without any treats.
If all else fails, you can try acupuncture or chiropractic adjustments. If your dog is in pain, you should consult your veterinarian, as this will depend on the cause of the biting problem. If the problem is due to a foreign object, it can be surgically adjusted. Otherwise, it can be treated by your dog behaviorist.
If he’s biting due to boredom, he can be exercised and played with to alleviate his boredom. However, be warned that your dog still won’t listen to your commands until he’s well. If you want your dog to stop biting, you’ll have to take him to a therapist. The worst thing is for your dog to be biting due to boredom. That will mean your dog will be more aggressive.
Dog biting is a behavior that can never be tolerated. If the dog has a tendency to bite, you will have to keep a lookout for the biting problem
